we needed a fast meal for our office snacks and my hunny thought of a way to resuscitate the breads. bread was prepared morning and was eaten lunchtime. bread was better than before.
resuscitated toasts
generous butter
mall dried sliced breads
heat up a non-stick pan for toasting. add a dollop of butter on the pan and immediately place a slice of bread on top. let the butter melt with the bread's life slowly being resuscited. toast one side of the bread for less than a minute. add another dollop of butter on the pan and flip bread on to the fresh dollop. remove the bread from the pan after about 30 seconds.
this is an easy way of saving the life of a mall dried bread.

Kuya, if it's toasted to a crisp, you can call it a biscocho. Actually, the old La Moderna in Sta. Rita (remember Imang Ines?) used to sell 'pitabasan' also called 'durug' which of course are nothing but re-baked bread slices.
Hi ate karen, my guru. yup, i still go to La Moderna, but now in Guagua. I'm not sure though if they still have the same breads as before. But I see them still making the san nicolas, ensaimadas and the masas. I hope you can make a blog comparing the old La Moderna to the new shop. thanks!
Guru ka diyan, at ate pa daw! Hahaha!
Naku, if there were only blogs when we were younger, 'no? I don't remember the details of the old La Moderna. But yes, I frequent Tita Buchie's in Guagua. That's the only place to get the old-style pandesal.
But this I remember: old La Moderna, we used to bring Imang Ines telephone directories and newspapers to make into supot with atole. New La Moderna, Tita Buchie uses plastic wrapping. Hahaha!
Susme! Ano pa kayang memories ang mare-resurrect natin?
